Live broadcast of an opera through 3D technology
The Anella Científica made possible the first live broadcast with 3D technology and cinematographic quality in the fifth edition of the Digital Barcelona Film Festival (DiBa 2009).
In particular, it was broadcasted a live essay of Beethovenes' opera Fidelio (made by Metropolitan Opera House of Nova York) from the Gran Teatre del Liceu to the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF).
This action was possible thanks to the connection provided by the Anella Científica between the Gran Teatre del Liceu and i2CAT, participant in the broadcast.
The audience could see the performance from the auditorium of the UPF, using special polarized glasses. The broadcast took place in may of 2009.
