The two CSUC machines are part of the Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES), a distributed infrastructure that connects 13 supercomputers in Spain and is coordinated by the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC).

Bull Sequana X800, a shared-memory system

Bull Sequana X800 (canigó) is a shared-memory machine that provides a flexible and competitive work environment for for a wide range of applications.

This supercomputer is suitable for performing jobs that, due to its characteristics, require a large amount of memory per core (up to 24 GB) with an efficient use of CPU resources. It is also suitable for jobs that need to access a large amount of memory from a few processes, mainly if the application does not allow parallelism between nodes.

With a peak performance of 33.2 Tflop/s and a maximum performance of 28.6 Tflop/s, the Bull Sequana X800 is the right machine if you are looking for a high processing capacity without memory restrictions for your calculations.

Bull Sequana X550, the heterogeneous-distributed-memory cluster

Bull Sequana X550 cluster (pirineus II) is a heterogeneous-distributed-memory machine of general purpose that allows to execute calculations of diverse typologies: jobs that require of multiple cores in the same node, that take advantage of the execution in multiple nodes, with needs of low-moderate memory or that take advantage of the use of accelerators (GPGPU, Intel KNL).

These types of clusters are best suited for operations that require high scalability.

Bull Sequana X550 has a peak performance of 283,7 Tflop/s and is equipped with an Infiniband interconnection network with a bandwidth of 100 Gbps. If your calculations are easily parallelized, this is your supercomputer!

The CSUC equipment has been purchased for a total amount of € 1.190.000 (VAT excluded), funded 50% by the Ministry of Science and Innovation with European Regional Development Fund (FEDER), and the Generalitat de Catalunya.
