EuroCC Spain

Technical specifications sheet

Financing: The project has received financing from the European High-Performance Computing Joint Undertaking – EuroHPC-JU within the framework agreement Nº 951732. EuroHPC-JU gets support from Horizon 2020 research and innovation program.

Financed amount: 27,936,679.44 € (EU's contribution), of the 56,329,833.85 € (total cost of the project).

Coordinated bt: University of Stuttgart (Germany).

Execution period: 1/09/2020 to 31/08/2022.

Goal: Create a National Competence Centre (NCC) capable of providing a wide range of supercomputing, big data and artificial intelligence services adapted to the needs of the industry (SMEs in particular), the academic world and public administration in Spain.

EuroCC Competence Centre in Spain

National Competence Centres (NCC) offer innovative services to improve the overall structure and management of users, and to innovate and expand the HPC knowledge and competence base across Europe.

For this reason, EuroCC launches for the first time a support structure based on National Competence Centres of 33 participating states, strongly interconnected, to enable and support academic circles, public administration and SMEs, and benefit from the advantages of the experience and the available resources in Europe in this field.

In Spain, the project is called EuroCC Spain and aims to support end-users interested in using HPC, HPDA and AI in daily activities and thus improve training and support services for companies. Some end-users/customers, especially in industry, do not have human capital and experience to make optimal use of HPC, HPDA and AI. EuroCC Spain will allow, through tailor-made solutions, to acquire the necessary knowledge to implement these technologies without the need to hire specialized staff.

CSUC participates in the Work Packages on management, training and skills development, technology transfer and business development, facilitating access to scientific and technical knowledge and awareness and collaboration.

EuroCC Spain has eight Spanish partners coordinated by the Barcelona Supercomputing Center –  Centro Nacional de Supercomputación:

  • Barcelona Supercomputing Center – Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS): Centro Nacional de Competencia (NCC) in Spain.
  • Instituto de Biocomputación y Física de Sistemas Complejos (BIFI-UNIZAR).
  • Centro Extremeño de investigación, Innovación Tecnológica y Supercomputación (CENITS).
  • Centro de Supercomputación de Galicia (CESGA).
  • Consorci de Serveis Universitaris de Catalunya (CSUC).
  • Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC).
  • Supercomputación Castilla y León (SCAYLE).
  • Universidad de Cantabria (UNICAN).
