Bandwidth Test
Load testing
CSUC performs load tests to verify that the line contracted by an institution has the required bandwidth before the connection is put into production.
In order to run these tests we can use several mechanisms and tools that can detect precisely the line's bandwidth.
The first mechanism consists of filling the bandwidth to the maximum in both directions, with software such as MGEN and making a traffic loop.
The second possibility is for the CSUC to act as a client or server for end to end testing with software such as IPERF.
A third option, simpler for the institution although not as accurate in terms of results, is to use other tools availables at CSUC, such as the speed test or NDT, from M-Lab.
