Here are answers to some frequently asked questions.

  • What do the institutions connected to the Anella Científica need to do in order to join Eduroam?

They must have a Radius server to authenticate users and they must join the authentication hierarchy. The technical representative of the institution should contact us at eduroam@suport.csuc.cat.

  • What domains and subdomains can each institution authenticate?

Each institution can authenticate all the domains and subdomains that are registered with it.

  • What is the role of CSUC in Eduroam?

We manage the central RADIUS server that performs distributed user authentication.

  • Which EAP authentication mechanism must be used?

The home institution can choose from: EAP-TTLS, EAP-TLS, PEAP, etc.

  • Where can I find more information about Eduroam?

For information on Eduroam worldwide, go to eduroam.org, and for Spain, eduroam.es.   

  • What is the home institution?

It is the institution to which the user belongs.

  • What is a visited institution?

It is the institution that owns the network to which the user connects when he or she is away from his/her home institution.

  • Who is a visitor?

A visitor is a user of the Eduroam mobility service when he or she is using a network other than that of the home institution.
